ABERDEEN, Scotland (AP) — Britain & Ireland took a 1012 to 512 lead in morning foursomes against the United States in the Walker Cup.

The hosts need three more points from the 10 afternoon singles matches Sunday to regain the trophy they last won in 2003 at Ganton, England.

Jordan Spieth, playing with Patrick Rodgers, holed an 8-foot putt to save a half in the opening foursome against Tom Lewis and Michael Stewart.

Britain & Ireland won the three other matches, with Jack Senior and Andy Sullivan beating Peter Uihlein and Harris English, James Byrne and Rhys Pugh winning against Patrick Cantlay and Chris Williams, and Paul Cutler and Alan Dunbar also beating Kelly Kraft and Blayne Barber.
