ARCADIA, Calif. (AP) — Sky High Gal held on to win the $75,000 Blue Norther Stakes for 3-year-old fillies by a nose on Tuesday at Santa Anita.

Ridden by Julien Leparoux, Sky High Gal ran one mile on the turf in 1:36.22 and paid $7.20, $4 and $3.40 as the 5-2 favorite.

She led by 112 lengths at the top of the lane, but Scarlet Strike made a late charge and Sky High Gal narrowly held off the threat in her Southern California debut.

Scarlet Strike returned $3.80 and $3.40, while Wittgenstein was another nose back in third and paid $6.20 to show at 19-1 odds.

Sky High Gal began her career at Woodbine in Canada last October, then won on the turf at Churchill Downs.

The victory, worth $48,300, increased her career earnings to $120,083, with three wins in four starts.
