The Vancouver Fire Department responded to a grass fire at an empty field in Hazel Dell at 1:41 p.m. Wednesday.

The fire at Northeast 82nd Street and 36th Court was accidentally started by juveniles playing in the area, officials said. An on-duty sheriff’s deputy spotted the fire and attempted to put it out with an extinguisher, said Sgt. Fred Neiman of the Clark County Sheriff’s Office.

Fire crews quickly extinguished the fire.
