A 41-year-old Vancouver man died late Wednesday after his motorcycle crashed and flipped on state Highway 500, Washington State Patrol said.

Dallas E. Payne died after the 11:30 p.m. crash on the Highway 500 ramp to Interstate 205 north, WSP said.

Vancouver firefighters responded. Payne was dead on arrival, said Capt. Scott Willis, department spokesman.

According to a WSP news release, Payne’s 2007 Suzuki motorcycle left the road, causing it to flip several times. The motorcycle traveled about 270 feet and hit a guardrail. Payne was ejected and came to rest against the guardrail about 50 feet from the motorcycle.

He suffered massive trauma and died at the scene.

The crash was caused by excessive speed, state patrol said.
