Aquitania wins Big A’s Lynclar Stakes

NEW YORK (AP) — Aquitania, the even-money favorite, beat Honchis’n Ponchis by one length Wednesday in the $71,250 Lynclar Stakes for fillies and mares at Aqueduct.

Junior Alvarado was aboard for Maryland-based trainer Hamilton Smith as the gray 4-year-old filly got her sixth win in 11 starts. The time was 1:10.81 for the six furlongs.

Aquitania paid $4.30 and $2.80. Honchis’n Ponchis returned $2.90. Strike the Moon was third, with My Sunshine Gal the trailer in the four-horse field. There was no show wagering.
