Josh Hayes wins AMA Pro SuperBike race at Infineon

SONOMA, Calif. (AP) — Two-time defending series champion Josh Hayes won the AMA Pro SuperBike doubleheader opener Saturday at Infineon Raceway, beating Blake Young by 10.957 seconds.

Hayes, the Yamaha star from Gulfport, Miss., won for the fifth time in the top class at Infineon and pushed his series total to 20 to tie Fred Merkel for fourth place on the career list.

The second half of the West Coast Moto Jam doubleheader is Sunday.

Suzuki’s Martin Cardenas, from Colombia, won the Daytona SportBike race.
