FRESNO, Calif. (AP) — Peter Pappageorge scored a career-high 23 points to lead Long Beach State to a 69-61 win over Fresno State on Saturday.

Pappageorge hit four 3-pointers and was 7 of 7 from the line, as he set a career high in a second consecutive game.

But Fresno State was hot first, taking a 14-6 lead on a dunk by Tyler Johnson, who would score 10 points.

At halftime, Pappageorge had scored 17 points and the 49ers were up 37-34.

Fresno State kept knocking. With just over a minute in the game, they cut the lead to five. But James Ennis tipped in a free throw miss and Pappageorge would make four free throws to secure the win.

Allen Huddleston led the Bulldogs (3-2) with 13 points. Kevin Foster had 11 rebounds.
