Letter: Democrats win with promises

The Columbian
Published: November 26, 2012, 4:00pm

All this pontificating and analysis by pundits about why the Democrats won and what’s wrong with the Republicans can be explained simply. The “Takers” outvoted the “Producers.”

The Republican leaders, which could be defined as “Democrat Lite,” cannot compete with a party that promises all things to all people.

The Democrats did not run a campaign on successful policies. They ran a campaign, aided by a media that has abandoned any pretense of impartiality, of character assassination and a promise of a government-provided safety net for all.

Vote Republican? One might as well vote against Santa Claus.
