A Portland man was injured after his motorcycle crashed along state Highway 500 in Camas on Wednesday afternoon.

John McLean, 53, was riding his 1999 BMW motorcycle west on the highway at Northeast Third Street around 1:37 p.m. when traffic slowed, according to a release from the Washington State Patrol.

There was sand in the road from construction vehicles, so when McLean applied his brakes, McLean was ejected from his seat, landing in the eastbound lane.

He was transported to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center for shoulder, elbow, knee and foot injuries. He was treated and released. The motorcycle was towed from the scene and damage to it is estimated at $1,000.
