LEXINGTON, Va. (AP) — John Laub passed for 213 yards and a touchdown and ran for another score as Richmond rolled over Virginia Military Institute 47-6 Saturday, pulling away with 28 points in the third quarter.

Cooper Taylor’s first of two interceptions set the Spiders (2-1) up at the 41 of the Keydets (1-2), and Laub’s 4-yard pass to Kevin Finney made it 23-6. After a VMI punt, Laub scored on a 14-yard run, and Jovan Smith broke free for a 50-yard run after another three-and-out by the Keydets.

After VMI picked up a first down on its next possession, Taylor picked off Eric Kordenbrock’s pass at the 35 and ran it in for a touchdown and a 44-6 lead.

Laub completed 23 of 31 passes for the Spiders, who defeated the Keydets for the ninth consecutive time. Ben Edwards caught 11 of the passes for 122 yards.
