Now that Clark County commissioners have decided to place six advisory votes on the Nov. 5 ballot, they need volunteers to write statements for and against each one for the voter’s pamphlet.

County voters will be asked whether commissioners should:

Oppose any light-rail project in Clark County unless supported by a majority of county voters in a countywide advisory vote?

Oppose any bus rapid transit project in Clark County unless supported by a majority of voters in a countywide advisory vote?

Adopt policies in support of toll-free bridges to the east, west or one replacing the existing Interstate 5 bridge?

Limit sale of fireworks to July 2, 3 and 4 and the discharge of fireworks to July 4, consistent with existing regulations within the Vancouver city limits?

“We need dedicated teams to complete this task by August 15th,” Commissioner Steve Stuart said. “They will have a critical role in helping generate meaningful answers to address concerns that have divided our community for too long.”

The board approved the ballot measures following a public hearing on Monday. Anyone interested in writing pro or con statements must express interest by noon Wednesday by contacting the commissioners’ office at (360) 397-2232 or boardcom@clark.wa.gov.
