SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. (AP) — Caroline Thomas won the $100,000 Lake Placid Stakes for 3-year-old fillies Sunday at Saratoga Race Course when first-place finisher Nellie Cashman was disqualified to third for interfering with Whatsdachances.
The Barclay Tagg-trained Caroline Thomas, ridden by Rosie Napravnik, paid $25.20, $7 and $5.20. Whatdachances, moved up to second, returned $3.80 and $3.80, and Nellie Cashman paid $5.80 to show
Nellie Cashman edged Caroline Thomas by a nose, running 1 1/8 miles on firm turf in 1:47.36.
