Willet wins Union Avenue Stakes

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. (AP) — Willet, ridden by Joel Rosario, took the lead at the three-sixteenths pole and scored a 2-length victory in the $100,000 Union Avenue Stakes for fillies and mares bred in New York on Monday at Saratoga Race Course.

The 5-year-old Willet ran 6 furlongs over a fast main track in 1:11.36 and paid $4.80, $2.80 and 2.40. Runner-up Clear Pasaj returned $3.40 and $2.60. Beautiful But Blue, third of six, paid $3.50 to show.

Willet earned $60,000 for owners Charlotte Assoulin and James Iselin, who is also her trainer.
