KEMPTON, England (AP) — Silviniaco Conti gave trainer Paul Nicholls his eighth victory in the King George VI Chase by outstaying Cue Card in the showpiece race at Kempton on Thursday.

Cue Card looked likely to win when he held a good lead early in the straight, but Silviniaco Conti went on to win by 312 lengths.

The winner’s stablemate, Al Ferof, was third, 11 lengths behind.

Nicholls has won the Boxing Day race five times with Kauto Star and twice with See More Business.
