HUNTSVILLE, Texas (AP) — Dontae Cannon tied the game with 3 seconds to play in regulation, then scored again with a second to play in overtime to lift McNeese State to a 59-58 win over Sam Houston State Thursday night.

Cannon finished with 19 points, eight rebounds and four assists for the Cowboys (9-12, 3-8 Southland), who had lost four in a row. It was just their second road win of the season; the other was at Texas Tech on Dec. 16.

Desharick Guidry had 11 points, making all three of his 3-point attempts, for McNeese State.

Marquel McKinney led the Bearkats (12-10, 5-5) with 13 points. Paul Baxter added 10 points and six assists for Sam Houston State.

The win was McNeese State’s 300th in the Southland Conference, making the Cowboys the first team to reach that mark.
