Stephen F. Austin dominates Sam Houston 73-56

NACOGDOCHES, Texas (AP) — Jacob Parker scored 28 points and pulled down 11 rebounds to lead Stephen F. Austin to a 73-56 Southland Conference victory over Sam Houston State Saturday night.

Deshaunt Walker added 17 points for SFA (13-2, 2-0). The Lumberjacks have now won 26 consecutive games at home.

Sam Houston (9-5, 1-1) held an 11-9 lead at the 11:20 mark. SFA led 22-17 with 6:28 remaining and held a 36-33 advantage at the half.

What had been a tight game in the first half changed dramatically as SFA went on a 13-2 run to start the second. The Lumberjacks were ahead 61-37 at the midpoint of the second period.

SFA controlled the boards, pulling down 44 rebounds to 27 for SHSU. They also won the free throw battle, making 21 of 29 attempts while SHSU was 5 of 13.

Paul Baxter led SHSU with 16 points.
