Head Heart Hoof wins Big A’s True and Blue Stakes

NEW YORK (AP) — Head Heart Hoof got his 17th career win Wednesday, a pace-setting victory in the $71,250 True and Blue Stakes at Aqueduct.

The gray 7-year-old gelding trained by Rudy Rodriguez defeated three rivals in the six furlong race. Head Heart Hoof, ridden by Cornelio Velasquez, beat Royal Currier, the 3-5 favorite, by 214 lengths. The time was 1:09.10.

Head Heart Hoof, the 4-1 third choice in the compact field, paid $10.40 and $3.60. Royal Currier returned $2.50. There was no show wagering.

Saturday’s Charm finished third, followed by Be Bullish.
