Evergreen Citizens for Schools fined for failing to report expenditures

The Public Disclosure Commission found that a political committee supporting a 2008 school measure bond in Evergreen Public Schools failed to report two 2008 expenditures in a timely manner.

The PDC’s presiding officer found at a Jan. 24 hearing that Evergreen Citizens for Schools violated RCW 42.17.080 and 42.17.090 on two occasions in 2008. The committee failed to report $5,500 for a survey conducted by Conkling, Fiskum & McCormick in Oct. of 2008 and $9,681 for advertising in The Columbian in May of 2008.

The presiding officer assessed a total civil penalty of $500, but he suspended $300 on the condition that the committee is not found to have committed any further violations of RCW 42.17A within four years of the date of the order.
