Ruler On Ice wins Aqueduct feature

NEW YORK (AP) — Ruler On Ice got his first win since the 2011 Belmont Stakes, beating Spa City Fever on Wednesday in the $67,450 allowance feature at foggy Aqueduct.

Irad Ortiz, Jr. was aboard for trainer Kelly Breen as the 5-year-old gelding ended a nine-race losing streak. Ruler On Ice rallied in deep stretch for his fourth victory in 17 starts. The time was 1:36.97 for the one mile.

Ruler On Ice paid $4.50 and $2.70 as the 6-5 favorite in the four-horse field. Spa City Fever returned $3.50. Joan’s Choice was a third by a neck over Keep Me Informed.

There was no show wagering.
