Fairway Village — More than 2,000 people marveled at nearly 150 impressive automobiles during Touchmark at Fairway Village’s annual Car Show and Barbecue. It’s the sixth year the 55-and-older retirement community has hosted the car show, which raised about $4,500 for Meals on Wheels People this year. Gary Neal’s 1929 Mercedes won Best of Show. Georgia Hockett, who displayed her purple 1956 Ford Thunderbird hard-top convertible, said in a press release that the classic cars give a sense of nostalgia for participants. “I think the most wonderful thing is it gives residents the thrill to see cars they used to drive,” she said.
