RENTON — The Washington State Patrol has cited a semi-truck driver for negligent driving for a crash that blocked the southbound lanes of Interstate 405 at Renton through the Tuesday morning commute.

Trooper Karim Boukabou says the driver, a 29-year-old Olympia man, was distracted.

Three cars also were involved in the crash at 7:13 a.m. Tuesday. All drivers had only minor injuries.

The patrol says the truck trailer carried 30,000 to 40,000 pounds of bread. The trailer blocked all four southbound lanes. Traffic backed up for at least two miles and some drivers were stuck for over an hour until traffic was detoured to an exit.

A heavy tow truck got the trailer back on its wheels about 9:30 and traffic started moving again about 10 a.m.
