Hockinson High School graduate Nick Cody signed a free-agent contract with the Edmonton Eskimos of the Canadian Football League, the team announced on its website Tuesday.

Cody played four seasons on the offensive line at Oregon, which led the Pacific-12 Conference in rushing offense, total offense and scoring offense.

“Big thanks to all my new Edmonton Eskimos teammates for making me feel so welcome,” Cody tweeted Tuesday. An earlier tweet said he would be missing Oregon’s commencement Monday to be on his way to Edmonton for his “first job.”

As an Oregon alum, Cody also tweeted: “Very excited to be putting the ‘O’ in EskimO.”

While Cody’s twitter handle @justfollow61 refers to his jersey number at Oregon, he is listed on the Eskimos roster as No. 59.
