WOODLAND — Elijah Andersen took centerstage as Woodland topped Hockinson 40-21 in a 2A Greater St. Helens League game on Friday.

The Beavers running back rushed for 181 yards and 3 touchdowns while also racking up 102 yards receiving and 1 touchdown. He also converted a 2pt conversion and held his own on the defensive side of the ball.

Quarterback Brett Martynowicz also threw for 177 yards finding Andersen and Chase Hall (24 yards receiving and 1 TD) in key moments to put points on the board.

Kicker Diego Almodovar got things going in the first quarter for the Beavers as he kicked a 36-yard field goal to get them on the board, he would go on to hit all but one of his extra point attempts which due to a flag the Woodland team opted to go for 2 & were successful.

On the other side of the ball Hockinson struggled to find any rhythm on offense and whenever they did, they hurt themselves with penalties that backed them up each time. At the end of the game Xavier Maitland found himself in space and took advantage. Maitland found the edge and took it to the house on a 32 yard touchdown and later connected with Quarterback Aiden Donowitz for a 19-yard receiving touchdown.

But it was too little too late as the Beavers had already racked up 40 points, most of the damage being done by Elijah Andersen who was the workhorse of the night. As the Beavers kept their home field advantage beating Hockinson 40-21.
