Lady Samuri goes wire to wire in Monmouth feature

OCEANPORT, N.J. (AP) — Lady Samuri went wire to wire and scored an easy win in the $75,000 Lighthouse Stakes at Monmouth Park on Sunday, beating Successful Song by 8 14 lengths.

Trained by Yvon Belsoeur and ridden by Abel Mariano, the 4-year-old filly ran the 1 1/16 miles on a fast track in 1:45 and returned $20, $8.80 and $5. It was her seventh win in 20 career starts.

Successful Song, who won last year’s Lighthouse Stakes, paid $4.60 and $3.60. Withgreatpleasure was another 7 12 lengths back in third and returned $5.20.
