Clark athletics report 5/14

BASEBALL

Record: 12-12 NWAACC West (4th place); 21-21 overall.

Last week: Split four-game series with first-place Pierce. Both teams won on their home fields: Pierce posted wins of 7-2 and 7-6 on Friday, while Clark won 4-2, 3-0 on Saturday. Clark completed its season by no-hitting Pierce in the second game on Saturday. Sophomores Ryan Shockey and Andrew Schenk combined on the no-no in their final game at Clark.

SOFTBALL

Record: 0-20 NWAACC South; 2-28 overall.

Last week: Lost 8-0 at Chemeketa; lost 7-0 at Clackamas to conclude the season.

TRACK AND FIELD

Next meet: Clark athletes will compete in the NWAACC Championships, May 20-21 at Spokane.

Last week’s competition: Clark athletes competed at the Southern Region Championship at Lane CC. Columbia River grad Andrew Morgan placed second in the javelin with a throw of 164-10. James Hunter placed second in the 110-meter hurdles in 15.31 seconds. Battle Ground High grad Jacob Mason placed third in the 5,000 in 16:36.22. The Clark men placed fourth out of six teams, and the Clark women were sixth.
