New Hampshire hangs on to defeat Albany 37-20

ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — Dalton Crossan returned a kickoff 93 yards for a touchdown and rushed for a second TD as New Hampshire defeated Albany 37-20 Saturday.

Crossan finished with a career-high 185 all-purpose yards. He carried just once from scrimmage, running right, then cutting left while breaking several tackles on his way to a 51-yard touchdown. The score gave New Hampshire (6-4, 5-2 Colonial Athletic Association) a 17-0 lead.

Albany (1-10, 0-7) closed within 20-17 when Tom O’Riordan made a 29-yard field goal. UNH then answered with Crossan’s kickoff return for a touchdown, stretching the Wildcats’ lead to ten with 11:45 remaining.

The Wildcats’ Andy Vailas threw two touchdown passes to Justin Mello. Mello had a team-high six catches for 71 yards.

Omar Osbourne had 28 carries for 109 yards with one touchdown rushing to lead Albany.
