Fairgrounds — How’s roasted-chicken-and-butternut-squash-with-hint-of-curry soup sound? People who turned out for Share’s 12th annual Share-A-Bowl fundraiser loved it — and voted to give chef Mark Wornson of Tommy O’s the People’s Choice Award during the Sept. 5 dinner event. Also offering succulent homemade soups were chefs from Whole Foods and the Red Lion Hotel Vancouver at the Quay. Plus, Share presented its Volunteer of the Year award to Robert Harland, who was recognized for three years of dedicated service, including everything from mentoring clients to managing other volunteers to painting Share’s new headquarters. The fundraiser drew 377 soup-lovers and raised $32,500 for Share Vancouver, a leading agency tending to the hungry and homeless. Learn more at sharevancouver.org.
