Share kicks off its annual Appeal for Meals campaign this week. Community members are invited to donate funds that will go toward sustaining the Backpack program, which provides food to more than a thousand Clark County students each year.

Donations will also stream to the organization’s fresh food pantry, hot meals program, pantry box and outreach program; altogether they provide food to residents 365 days a year.

Annually, these programs provide more than 250,000 pounds of nonperishable food to 85 schools, 160,000 pounds of fresh produce to households, 12,550 summer meals for children and more than 5,500 food kits for people experiencing homelessness.

This year, thanks to support from local businesses and other donors, the match pool is $89,500. The fundraiser ends Sunday.
