DEL MAR, Calif. (AP) — Egg Drop defeated Appealing by a head to win the $150,000 Yellow Ribbon Handicap on Monday at Del Mar.

Ridden by Brice Blanc, Egg Drop ran 1 1/16 miles on the turf course in 1:40.50 and paid $8, $4.80 and $3.80.

Appealing returned $26 and $13 at odds of 34-1, while My Gi Gi was another 1 12 lengths back in third and paid $5.20 to show. Defending champion Halo Dolly was fourth.

There was a stewards’ inquiry because of an incident in deep stretch where Garrett Gomez on My Gi Gi took up while moving between Egg Drop and Appealing. However, after a video review the stewards ruled that the incident occurred at a point in the race where it did not affect the order of finish.

The victory, worth $90,000, increased Egg Drop’s career earnings to $254,020, with four wins in 10 starts.
