An open house next week will invite participants to weigh in on the design of a downtown Vancouver transit station planned as part of C-Tran’s proposed bus rapid transit line.

The $53 million enhanced bus system would run between the Westfield Vancouver mall and downtown, ending at what’s now Turtle Place plaza on West Seventh Street. C-Tran, which owns the property, has said a BRT terminus station could incorporate some elements of the existing public space.

The meeting is scheduled from 9:30 a.m. to noon Thursday, Aug. 14, in the Columbia Room of the Vancouver Community Library, 901 C St. Participants will meet with C-Tran staff before walking to the station site.

The C-Tran Board of Directors voted last month to commit local funding to the project. Construction could begin as soon as next year, with the BRT system opening in 2016, according to the agency.
