Girls basketball: Evergreen 40, Fort Vancouver 27

Moriah Doyle scored 15 of her game-high 16 points in the second half as the Plainsmen improved to 1-1.

Lexi Burney had eight rebounds for Evergreen, which pulled away by outscoring Fort 18-6 in the third quarter.

Molly Deleo and Sydney Brugman scored seven points each for Fort (1-2). Evergreen coach Jay Foreman praised the intensity of the Trappers, who are coached by his former assistant Arlisa Hinton.

“Fort played very tenacious scrappy defense,” Foreman said. “I could not be prouder of how they’re playing at Fort.”
