Mount Hood Meadows to operate a third chairlift

Mount Hood Meadows opened for the 2014-15 season on Monday and plans to add a third chairlift today.

Vista Express quad chairlift will begin running today. The lift climbs 1,200 vertical feet to intermediate and advanced terrain.

The ski area has been open partially on an intermittent basis waiting for more snow.

Dave Tragethon, a Meadows spokesman, said the ski area got 16 inches of snow, followed by 4 inches of rain, then 10 more inches of snow during the weekend. The base has 18 inches, while there are 40 inches at mid-mountain.

Adult chairlift tickets are $59. The price is $39 for kids ages 7 to 14 and $10 for ages 6 and younger. A beginner chairlift ticket for Ballroom Carpet conveyor and Buttercup chairlift is $39.

Tragethon said more snow is in the forecast.

The resort’s ski and snowboard school is operational along with equipment rental, sport shops and food services.

Timberline Lodge is scheduled to operate Bruno’s and Pucci chairlifts from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Magic Mile chairlift may operate, depending on weather conditions

Timberline has a 28-inch base.

Mount Hood Skibowl is offering daily tubing from 10 a.m to 4 p.m. and 5 to 10 p.m. The area has 14 to 18 inches.
