Letter: We have right to protect our nation

I agree with Thomas Sowell’s Dec. 16 column, “Public’s ‘right to know’ jeopardizes fight against terror,” and Bob Zak’s letter, “Report’s damage unacceptable,” both regarding the release of the report on the CIA.

If you feel Joint Base Lewis-McChord/Tacoma-Seattle, for example, are being held hostage to a possible nuclear attack, you are going to do whatever it takes to stop the murder of half of the population of the state of Washington. I hope … for God’s sake.

We do not need to respect the life of someone who is plotting to kill us. We have the right of self-defense and self-protection. This is a concept we try to teach our women who are abused, and refuse to find new circumstances.
