STONY BROOK, N.Y. (AP) — Ahmad Walker scored 18 points and hauled in seven rebounds as Stony Brook held off UMass-Lowell for a 70-65 win on Saturday night.

Stony Brook (12-6, 4-0 America East Conference) built an early lead that was never challenged, taking a 34-27 advantage into the break, but had to hold off a River Hawks rally late in the second half to secure the win.

Jameel Warney and Carson Puriefoy had 14 points apiece, while Dave Coley added 10 for the Seawolves, who extended their home court conference win streak to 20. Warney made it a double-double with 10 rebounds.

UMass-Lowell (4-12, 3-2) narrowed the gap with a 14-5 run that shaved their deficit to two, 61-59, on a Kerry Weldon layup with 1:09 left. Stony Brook closed out the game by going 7 of 9 from the foul line to clinch it.

Antonio Bivins led the River Hawks with 21 points.
