RANDLE — Road No. 99 leading to Windy Ridge on the northeast side of Mount St. Helens will open for the season on Wednesday.

“Our limited snowpack allowed the road crew to get in and reopen the road a little earlier this year,” said Tom Mulder, manager of the Mount St. Helens National Volcanic Monument.

Forest Service rangers will provide interpretive talks at the Windy Ridge Amphitheater and be available to answer questions at viewpoints along Road No. 99 daily through Labor Day.

A $5 per vehicle day pass or Northwest Forest Pass is needed at Windy Ridge, Independence Pass, Cascade Peaks, Meta Lake, Miner’s Car and Bear Meadows on road No. 99.
