Gifford Pinchot National Forest to accept guide-outfitter applications

Applications will be accepted Nov. 1 through Dec. 15 for outfitter and guiding permits in the Gifford Pinchot National Forest in 2015.

The Forest Service will offer up to 16 temporary permits. The agency invites applications for mountaineering-climbing, kayaking-canoe tours, packstock support and nature-based educational tours.

There are five areas in the Gifford Pinchot where activities under the permits may take place. Maps of the areas can be found on the forest’s website.

Proposals may be mailed to the forest headquarters at 10600 N.E. 51st Circle, Vancouver, 98682, or emailed to gpspecialuses@fs.fed.us. The deadline to apply is Dec. 15.

The public is encourage to visit http://go.usa.gov/yp5Y and review the materials before submitting a permit proposal.
