HOOD RIVER, Ore. — A public “listening session” on forest planning in the Northwest will begin at 6 p.m. May 11 at the Columbia Gorge Hotel, 4000 Westcliff Drive.

Officials from the Gifford Pinchot and Mount Hood national forests, plus the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area, will be present to answer questions about the planning process.

The Gifford Pinchot National Forest also will participate in a listening session beginning at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Olympic National Forest supervisor’s office, 1835 Black Lake Road S.W., Olympia.

Participants at the meetings will break into small groups with Forest Service representatives to discuss what they would like the Forest Service to consider when revising forest plans in the Northwest.

Other questions will be about incorporating and applying science in the plan revisions and how the public should be engaged.
