Letter: Herrera Beutler is not a moderate

The Columbian
Published: January 31, 2015, 4:00pm

Once again, The Columbian helps create the impression that our congresswoman, Jaime Herrera Beutler, R-Camas, is a moderate or at least ought to be thought of that way (“Censure effort could benefit Herrera Beutler,” Jan. 28). If Herrera Beutler is a moderate, then I am the starting center for the Blazers. True, compared to right-wing nuts like Rep. Louie Gohmert, R-Texas, or Rep. Steve King, R-Iowa, Herrera Beutler does come across as not rabid. In fact, personally, she is very nice; however, to even imply she is a moderate is to insult the intelligence of all the centrists and independents in Clark County and her district.

I must agree that if the local GOP censures the congresswoman, it will help validate her moderate charade.
