C-Tran to host hearing on senior pass

The C-Tran Board of Directors next week will hold a public hearing inviting comments on a proposed discounted day pass for seniors and other honored citizens.

C-Tran is considering offering an Honored Citizen All-Zone Day Pass that would cost $2.50 and cover all non-express C-Tran routes, including those that travel to Portland. If approved, the new pass would be available starting Sept. 1, according to C-Tran. Currently, C-Tran only offers an adult All-Zone day pass for $5.

“Honored” citizens include disabled riders or seniors 65 and older. C-Tran offers discounted single-ride fares and monthly passes for those citizens, but not day passes. The proposal comes after a Clark County resident suggested the idea to the C-Tran board last year.

The public hearing will happen during the C-Tran board’s next meeting at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Columbia Room of the Vancouver Community Library, 901 C St.
