VANCOUVER — Vancouver’s historic train depot will be the setting Saturday morning when the Clark County Historical Museum unveils its newest exhibit.

The interpretive display — “The Northwest’s Own Spokane, Portland and Seattle Railway” — will be housed permanently in Vancouver’s 1909 train depot, now the Amtrak station at 1301 W. 11th St.

The 10 a.m. ribbon-cutting ceremony will include museum Executive Director Katie Anderson, Vancouver City Councilor Anne McEnerny-Ogle, retired SP&S conductor Harry Hendricks, exhibit designer Ed Austin, SP&S Historical Society member Duane Cramer and Dan Cotton, representing the Washington State Department of Transportation.

After the ceremony, there will be an opportunity to share train-related photos and memories. The public is encouraged to bring photographs and stories relating to the SP&S Railway or other Clark County railroad history.

The display will show how Clark County and the Northwest were transformed by railroads. The event is free. For information, contact the museum at info@cchmuseum.org or 360-993-5679.
