The southbound side of the Interstate 5 Bridge will close overnight Thursday for various maintenance work, according to the Oregon Department of Transportation.

A partial closure of the span will begin at 10 p.m. Thursday, with a full closure in place by 11 p.m., according to ODOT. Connecting ramps from state Highway 14 and downtown Vancouver will also be closed, according to the Washington State Department of Transportation.

The bridge is expected to reopen by 5 a.m. Friday.

The closure will allow crews to perform maintenance to the structure’s counterweight rollers and the road deck. ODOT will also complete sign work, according to the agency.

During the closure, traffic heading from Vancouver to Portland will have to use Interstate 205.

The work will not affect the northbound side of the I-5 Bridge.
