A Vancouver man faces charges after he allegedly crashed into a tree in the Bagley Downs neighborhood and then fled the scene, leaving two injured passengers behind.

Vancouver police responded to Fort Vancouver Terrace, 4710 Plomondon St., at about 1 a.m. Monday and arrived to find a 1993 Honda Civic had crashed into a tree.

Two passengers, Ashley N. Tomaszewski, 30, and William E. Dozier, 28, were taken to area hospitals for serious but not life-threatening injuries, Vancouver police spokeswoman Kim Kapp said.

Dozier was listed in satisfactory condition at PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center. Tomaszewski was taken to PeaceHealth but transferred to Legacy Emanuel in Portland. She was being evaluated as of Monday afternoon.

Officers located the driver, identified as Andrew J. Ward, 28, a short time later at his home, Kapp said. He was arrested on suspicion of vehicular assault, felony hit-and-run and driving with a suspended license.
