Mount Hood Meadows to reopen Friday

Mount Hood Meadows plans to reopen for daily operations on Friday after taking a four-day break to ready its snow for spring vacation.

Three inches of weekend rain from mid-mountain down worsened snow conditions, said Dave Tragethon, a spokesman.

“We just need time to harvest and haul snow we have in reserve to patch and fortify our snowpack to present a quality skiing and snowboarding product,” he said.

If temperatures allow, the ski area will resume its snow-making.

Meadows plans to create a terrain park with jumps, rails and other features serviced by Cascade Express, the highest chairlift. The terrain park will open on Saturday.
