Vancouver mayor uses interactive format in touting positive strides

Vancouver Mayor Tim Leavitt may have been wearing a dark suit, but his State of the City address was anything but formal.

The atmosphere felt festive and free-wheeling, crackling with expectation. The new, digital, interactive format of the annual speech was an experiment. Anything could happen.

Beside Leavitt onstage in the City Hall lobby Thursday, live Twitter feeds scrolled down four video monitors.
