Two people were taken to a local hospital for evaluation and treatment of injuries following a four-car accident during Tuesday evening’s rush hour.

The Washington State Patrol said the accident occurred at 5:04 p.m. on Highway 500 at Interstate 205. Stephen P. Lemm, 60, of Vancouver was merging a silver Audi onto eastbound Highway 500 from northbound Interstate 205 in heavy traffic when he struck the rear end of another car, triggering a chain reaction, according to troopers.

The injured parties were identified as Richrd D. Kelly, 63, of Vancouver, and Colleen A. Farrell-Campbell, 63, of Vancouver.

Lemm was to be ticketed for following too closely, according to the state patrol.
