Letter: Field was set by primary voters

In the Aug. 25 story “Pike will not campaign for council chair seat,” Clark County Republican Party state committeeman Christian Berrigan justifies his spearheading a write-in campaign for county council chair by saying he wants to “give Republicans an option, someone to vote for who is closer in line (with the party.)” I recall a recent election in which Republicans had three such options to consider, all of whom were rejected by the voting public. So now he wants a do-over?

In an Aug. 28 letter “Block attempt to seat Pike in chair,” Lynn Brown labels Berrigan and his supporters “sore losers.” Indeed. And imagine the howl local Republican Party people would be raising now if Democrats had lost the primary hands-down, and were now whining a similar mulligan tune.
