Washougal — Jemtegaard Elementary School sixth-grader Ariel Delavega was named the winner of the annual logo contest for the Washougal Schools Foundation’s Annual Student Stride for Education race. His creation will adorn all promotional materials and T-shirts for the race, which promotes fitness and learning, with sponsorships going directly to the classroom.

Ariel also was awarded a $50 cash prize. “I entered the contest for fun. I didn’t think I would win,” he said.

The Student Stride for Education takes place each year on the third Saturday in May at Fishback Stadium at Washougal High School.
