Here are five ideas for weekend fun.

1. Pirate’s treasure

Pirates will gather in Washougal for an evening of entertainment to benefit the Inter-Faith Treasure House and its Backpack Home program. Pirates in the Plaza will feature music by the BilgeRats & Pyrettes, with dance performances by Bellissimonde, Bridgetown Morris Men and Washougal’s Dayley Dance Academy. Pirate costumes are encouraged, with prizes given in three age groups. A “grog garden” will feature Washougal breweries and glass-blowing demonstrations by Mary Jane’s House of Glass. 2. Community picnic

The city of Ridgefield will host a Picnic in the Park for its first Saturday event, and participants are encouraged to bring a lunch, blanket and more to Overlook Park, Pioneer Street and Main Avenue, Ridgefield. Lunch items also will be available for purchase. There will be water balloon games, interactive art projects, a farmers market, and a scavenger hunt starting at 9 a.m. Aug. 6, followed by the picnic and live music at 11 a.m. The beer garden opens at noon. That same day in Ridgefield, visitors also can check out the Sip ‘N’ Shop market at noon at Koi Pond Cellars, 120 N. Third Ave., or the Terry Robb concert at 7:30 p.m. at the Old Liberty Theater, 115 N. 3. Car shows multiply

The Camas Car Show was rescheduled for 4 to 8:30 p.m. Aug. 6. Hundreds of classic rides, custom cars, hot rods and trucks will be on display along the streets of downtown Camas, Northeast Fourth Avenue. Awards will be given to Best in Show, Sponsors’ Picks and People’s Choice. Car registration begins at 1 p.m. at $15 per car. Admission is free for spectators. Guests who bring two cans of food for the Inter-Faith Treasure House of Camas/Washougal will receive a free raffle ticket. www.downtowncamas.com/events-and-festivals/camas-car-show-2016

The annual Cruise 4 Charity is a car show to benefit Katie’s Kause for Cystic Fibrosis, a nonprofit that helps children and their families with the disease. This will be an open show for all cars, trucks and motorcycles, with goodie bags given to the first 50 participants. There will be food, music, prizes, trophies and more for car owners and spectators alike from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 6, with gates opening at 8:30 a.m., at City Bible Church, 14311 S.E. The Rose City Corvette Club hosts the Fort Vancouver Car Show 2016, with awards for the Best of Show, City of Vancouver Award, Doernbecher Children’s Choice, muscle cars, Mustangs, Corvettes, club participation and more. Car show registration runs 6:30 to 10:30 a.m. Aug. 7, with awards at 3 p.m., before ending at 3:30 p.m. at the Pearson Air Museum, 1115 E. Fifth St., Vancouver. Show proceeds will benefit OHSU Doernbecher Children’s Hospital and the Fort Vancouver National Trust. Admission is free, with $25 to enter a vehicle into show. www.fortvancouvercarshow.com

4. Planes in flight

This year, the Oregon International Air Show will feature the Breitling Jet Team, Heroes of the Pacific showcase, the U.S. Navy F-18 Super Hornet, parachute teams, Renny Price, Brad Wursten and other pilots who will fly throughout the weekend. There will be aircraft on display, a kids area, entertainment, and fireworks on Friday night. The air show begins at 7 p.m. Aug. 5 and 11 a.m. Aug. 6 and Aug. 7 at Hillsboro Airport, 3355 N.E. Cornell Road, Hillsboro, Ore. Tickets are $25 to $30, $5 for ages 5 to 11, free for ages 4 and younger, and $30 to $35 for reserved seating. 5. Spicy time

A celebration of spice at the PDX Hot Sauce Expo will include dastardly and diabolical eating challenges. From 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Aug. 6 and 7, visitors can watch participants take on the spicy tacos of DOOM, ghost pepper pizza, a Guinness World Records Reaper Pepper challenge and more. The event also will feature hot sauce companies from across the Northwest, along with spicy foods, beer and more at the bridge parking lot of the Oregon Museum of Science & Industry, 1945 S.E.
