A motorcycle rider was injured this morning when his bike collided with a car on state Highway 14 in Vancouver.

The rider, Jesse Farley, 22, of Vancouver, was traveling west behind the car in the left lane when both vehicles moved into the right lane and Farley’s motorcycle struck the rear of the car, according to a Washington State Patrol memo. The crash occurred at about 9:30 a.m. just east of Interstate 205, State Patrol said.

Farley was taken to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center for treatment of his injuries, State Patrol said. He was listed in satisfactory condition this evening, according to hospital staff.

Fifty-six-year-old Vancouver resident Diane Williams, the driver of the tan Toyota Avalon struck by Farley’s motorcycle, was not injured, State Patrol said.

State Patrol said speed caused the crash and that troopers cited Farley for reckless driving. His blue Suzuki motorcycle was totaled in the collision, according to State Patrol.
