OLYMPIA — Applications are being accepted by the governor’s office for an open position on the Washington’s Salmon Recovery Funding Board.

The 10-member board sets policies for grant programs for investing in salmon recovery. Five members are appointed by the governor, while five represent state agencies.

Since the board’s inception in 1999, it has guided investment of nearly $753 million in more than 2,6000 salmon recovery projects.

Applications should be submitted to the governor’s office at www.governor.wa.boards-commissions/board-and-commissions/apply-serve-board-or-commission-0. It also is helpful to submit a cover letter and resume to the governor’s office, also using the online system.

The board typically meets four times a year, three of them in Olympia. Board members receive $100 a day for each meeting and are reimbursed for travel costs.
